Willy's Bar and Grill (Formerly known as Willy's Second Base)
Willy's was established more than a decade ago by an American bloke who had played major league baseball in the US rather successfully, those who know baseball have told me, until his career came to an end. He then moved to Taiwan, played, coached and turned to scouting players here. He left a few years ago to puruse other things and the bar changed hands a few times and went through some grim times until it was eventually purchsed by two fabulous guys who have turned it around and into a huge success. Andy is from England and Alun is from Wales. Both are long time Tainaners, have extensive ties to the local and foreign community and are doing a great job with Willy's.
Their vision seems to be to run Willy's as a foreign and local friendly sports bar and traditional English pub. And it really seems to be working out well. The pub has a great atmosphere and is a decent place where you can bring your wife or girlfriend without fear. Kids are also usually running about the place on weekends until 9:00pm and it's pretty family friendly for meals and the like.

For sports lovers, Willy's usually shows all major live sporting events like Super Rugby, International tests, English Premier League, the Euro Championships, UEFA and AFAIK several major American sports.
For the less sports minded they have special events like Thursday night Quiz Night, Mexican Night and Mojito evenings.
They offer a huge selection of beers, on tap and bottled, spirits, shooters, wines, cocktails and are open to just about any suggestion you may have.
For the family minded, there are two sections to the pub - An area around the bar, and an area off the bar with tables for quiet meals and gatherings, although the larger area is sometimes used for major sporting events with a big screen.
Willy's also has some of the finest and most affordable foreign food you will find in Tainan or anywhere on the island. They certainly have the best pizza I have had in 20 years, and I've never had a meal there I've been disappointed with. I have brought several Forumosans and Taiwaneasians to Willy's in the last few years and no one has ever left unsatisfied. If you're ever in Tainan and looking for a nice place with locals and good solid friendly foreign folk you should really give Willy's a try. Their staff are very friendly and helpful, and the bar ladies are very easy to look at.
