No Edit button.

I am having the same problem on forumosa.com too. I simply have no edit button and therefore no editing functions. What on earth is going on?

I have an edit button on both websites. :idunno: Are you looking at a post in Temp? Those can't be edited.

Hi, DB. I am not doing anything different to my usual experience over the last 10 years. The button has just gone on both sites. I'd be willing to give you my log in details and see if the edit button appears for you, that way I would be able to tell if it's a comp issue, or a user issue. Perhaps I have pissed off the wrong tekkie person and they have decided to tinker with my account. That would be a bit childish, but not beyond the bounds of imagination...

Sure, you're welcome to PM me with that. If you can't see the button, though, I doubt it will appear for me.

Interesting. I just transferred your permissions to my account and I can confirm that you indeed have no edit function. If this is happening to you on forumosa as well, then this is not a specific website issue, but a phpbb issue (probably). Let me consult with the muppets to find out what's going on. :ponder:

DB logged in for me from his computer and I have no edit function on his computer either. I dunno what phpbb issues are. Thanks.

I forced reactivation of your account which should also reset your settings, you need to confirm the email that is sent. Can you check if that fixed it?
Also remember you can't edit or delete posts which are older then a week. This is to avoid that users disrupt old discussions.

I've never heard of such a restriction before. Interesting.

It's back baby! I'm able to edit.

Thanks for the work and the help. One thing though, when I tried to log on before I reactivated I got the message that my account wasn't active and that I needed to contact a site admin. There was no information at that juncture on how to contact a site admin... Just so as you know.

Ditto. I don't like not being able to edit my post to update info on an event, for instance. Hobbling the whole community in order to prevent a rare instance of some jerk deleting all his posts is not a good solution.

There's a time limit how long you are able to edit a post. If the post is older than 7 days you need to check with maoman for modifying it.
Bunks: I couldn't see any problem that you couldn't edit posts. Please check if the post you want to edit is not older than 7 days (168 hours).
