Anyone familiar with this clinic (private)? On Chang'an E Road.
I have been there and the facilities are beautiful. Apparenlty the Chinese forums are full of kind words for them but I am wondering how we English speaking folk fair there?

Well... we called the Clinic. Put on hold for 10 minutes. When we asked about costs etc they refused to even discuss and even said "you know we are more expensive than the hospitals"???? Odd, not a good start.
Hm, very interesting. That's not that far from where I live but haven't come across it yet. I did hear once about a hotel-like place in this area, and the dad who was telling me about it (a few years ago) was married to a Taiwanese lady. Private rooms, nurses who care for the baby and mommy during the "cuo ye zi", traditional healing foods for post-partum. You could always try Forumosa too. There might be dads there with older kids who might know of this place or similar places. An address and number would help too.

We have met the owner before (lovely person) and know the designers of the place. However this didnt seem to help when we enquired.

Wow, it looks nice and their website music makes it sound like a spa, ha. I feel like I often have sales people in stores warn me about how much money I'm about to spend and tell me to get something cheaper, so I'm not too surprised that the woman on the phone said that to you. Definitely go and visit to get a better feel for it. I'd love to hear what you think of it. Any place that offers a peaceful birth setting is worth checking out! (how much do they charge, by the way?)
I recently found out about a water birth clinic that is opening up in January. Dr. Huang there speaks good English and was trained by Barbara Harper, who runs Waterbirth International. Barbara is coming in March to train the nurses there and also do a doula training for nurses there. I've never been, but the qualifications are very good. Located in HsinJuang. PM me if interested, because right now all I have is the doc's cell number and don't want to post it publically. Blythe
