Cinco de Mayo at the Mayan Grill! Saturday, May 5th, 6:00 PM

Postby maoman » Thu Mar 29, 2012 11:04

The Mayan Grill and Taiwanease.com are proud to announce the Cinco de Mayo Dinner, a night of great food, music, and socializing, and a celebration of Hispanic culture.

Edit: We are even prouder to announce that the Oficina de Enlace de México en Taipei will be our special guest that evening. :bravo:

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday in parts of Mexico, commemorating the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, but in recent years, it has become a larger festival in the United States, celebrating Mexican culture and by extension, a broader Hispanic culture.

It is in this spirit that we are going to celebrate not just Mexican culture specifically, but Hispanic culture in general. Please join us for a wonderful evening of food and socializing. :trio: :yeah:

The set menu for the evening is as follows:

Starter:
Chile-Corn Soup

Appetizer:
Nachos with black beans, Pico de Gallo, sour cream, and guacamole (if available).

Main Course:
Choice of Chicken, Beef, Or Vegetarian (Black Bean & Cheese) Enchiladas served with Mayan Gold Rice and Rajas

Dessert: Traditional Vanilla Flan

Drink Selection:
Non-alcoholic:
Tea, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Ginger Ale
Alcoholic:
Corona, Mayan Drop (a Margarita-themed shot), and red or white wine

This is a family-friendly event. There will be a kids' set meal which includes soup, rice, fresh juice and either quesadilla, taquitos, or flautitas.

The cost for this evening is $600 (presale) or $700 (at the door). Kids pay only $450.
Happy Hour pricing all night long. Afterparty begins at 9:00, 300NT entry includes one drink.

To pre-order, just call (02) 2511-6292.

See you there!

   We have put our names on the list already, and will prepay later when they get that part sorted out.

We're looking forward to seeing you all, Erik and his family, as well as the Oficina de Enlace de México en Taipei, who were very friendly and helpful when we visited them in the past!

Kids meaning...? I'm yet to see our two-year old eat through NT$450 of anything, and the one-year old would pop.

The kids can eat off of your plate, J, or you can just order a side for them. The kids menu is for school age kids. MG wants to make it easy for families to attend.

I don't think I've ever been to the Mayan Grill. Do you know how many they can seat at one time? I'll come with my girls, will check to see how I can prepay.

I called to prepay weeks ago, but they didn't have any form of prepayment set up, so I just made a reservation.

DB, Nicole posted prepayment details on the Facebook event page.

A couple of different posts so be sure to scroll down. They also want you to specify what you'll be having.

Update: I'm attending with my two daughters and our reservation is for 6pm. The girls are 11yo and 8yo. Anyone else bringing their kids?
