Unique Pet Palate

I have had cats my entire life but not one like our newest family member. She goes ape for bananas. If you peel one in the house she is there within seconds. She loves apples, papapya, pears, grapes, peas, carrots, turnips... and almost anything except crackers. Her latest fetish is rubber bands. We had to double check to make sure none were lying around after we found a half eaten one....

Any one else with a pet that has an unusual palate?

XiaoDi likes to lick and chew on the sticky border of plastic bags magazines come in. XiaoPang liked to eat away the plastic mosquito netting... hence now all is changed to metal.

One of our cats loves rubber bands - like you, we're careful to keep them away from him. He also loves tugging up hair clots from the shower drain, slurping them down, and then gagging them back up again. We try to make sure the drain's clear, but he seems to check it more often than we do! The same one also adores any surface on which my wife's Chinese medicine has rested: it has some kind of catnip effect on him.

The other cat thinks I am absolutely delicious if I've just gone for a swim. I guess it's the smell of chlorine: she'll just keep licking my arm as long as I let her.

Dofu will eat almost anything. In his 9.5 years, he has consumed numerous cell phones and television remote controls, the edges of furniture (but only the cheap stuff), small toys, cardboard boxes, cotton swabs, any type of paper (but, tissue is a favorite), clothing, pencils and pens, plactic bottles, and many other items.

Other than lemons, he seems to like most foodstuffs.

It seems like cats like weird smells and plastic stuff.

I had a cat that ate a balloon once, the long kind that you can make animals and such out of. She came into the dining room one morning with half of one hanging out of her bottom. I tried to remove it with a gloved hand and it snapped in half smaking her rear which sent her flying across the room, howling with still a quarter of balloon attached. My son observed it all in awe (He was six at the time) and started spewing milk out of his nose from laughing so hard. All of my other cats have been quite normal. Can and dry food until spider cat came along.
